Evocative design.
Crafted from century-old timber, this table carries a sense of history within its material – a surface shaped not only by hand, but by time. Its ripple edge introduces movement and depth, contrasting with the calm, smooth plane of the tabletop.
The timber is cut into planks and kiln-dried to stabilise the material before being assembled into boards. The perimeter is then hand-chiselled, carving deep grooves that define the table’s edge, while the centre is sanded back to expose the natural grain.
A process of sanding and staining is repeated in layers, building depth and tone across the surface. Made entirely by a single woodworker over the course of 12 weeks, the piece reflects a considered and deliberate approach to craft.
