Timber collected from century-old logs is run through a 1950s saw machine and cut into planks. Dried in the kiln for seven days to reduce moisture content, the oven doors are then opened and left to cool for another two days. Planks are assembled into boards before being manually carved for eight weeks using a traditional chisel, scarring the surface to achieve depth and form. A process of sanding and staining is repeated four times, ensuring the colour is fully absorbed before a final seal is applied to lock in the colour. This is a signature piece from the Maui Collection, created by a single woodworker over a total period of 12 weeks before being shipped to your space.
