The story continues.
A dining chair handcrafted with animalistic features, hammered and carved with purpose over six weeks. Made to pause and reflect, narrowing in on the Egyptian markings and intricate details; a building block of communal spaces and flowing conversations.
Harvested from a century-old log, the timber is run through a 1950s saw machine and cut into planks. After drying for seven days in the kiln to reduce moisture content, the oven doors are opened and left to cool for another two days. Planks are then assembled into boards before being manually carved using a traditional chisel – a passed-down technique of chipping away at the timber from different angles, creating dimples in the wood. Cultivated by a single set of hands, consistently and with precision, each divet is repeatedly sanded and stained to ensure the colour is fully absorbed into the timber grain. Designed to pair with the Maui Dining Table as part of the Maui Collection.
