The centre of conversation.
Carved over weeks of making, the surface carries a sense of rhythm and repetition – each mark revealing the process behind the form.
Working from century-old timber, the material is cut into planks and kiln-dried to stabilise it before being assembled into boards. Using traditional chiselling techniques, the surface is carved by hand to create depth and variation across the entire piece.
Each groove is repeatedly sanded and stained, allowing colour to settle deep within the grain before being sealed. Formed by a single woodworker over an extended period, the piece reflects a deliberate and considered approach to craft.
